Kernel density estimates to compare health state utilities between the multiple sclerosis and the chronic disease samples. Notes: Health state utilities are generated by synthesising answers to surveys through scoring algorithms. These algorithms provide survey respondents with scores on a zero (death) to one (full health) interval scale which are representative of their overall health related quality of life. The chart shows that the distribution of health state utilities in the MS and other chronic disease subgroups were similar. This indicates that the two subgroups comprised persons with similar levels of disability severity
