IQR Interquartile range, SD Standard deviation, general self-efficacy (1–5) higher scores indicate higher self-efficacy, health-related willingness to take risk (0–10) lower values represent more risk aversion, future orientation (0–10) higher values indicate a stronger orientation on the future, BMI body mass index, ASA score (1–5) American Society of Anesthesiologists score assessing the physical status of a patient before surgery with values representing (1) healthy, (2) mild systemic disease, (3) severe systemic disease, (4) life-threatening severe systemic disease, (5) moribund patient respectively, THR/TKR: (0, 1) Total hip or knee replacement, indicates if a patient already had a total hip or knee replacement surgery at baseline assessment
